Committee Roles & Responsibilities for the 2009-2010 Church Year Start by doing what is necessary then what is possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible - St Francis of Assisi A strong Fellowship that will meet the needs of its members and active friends, as well as new members, is dependent on the volunteers on its committees. Each committee will have a chairperson or co-chairs as well as a board liaison. Both members and non-members are free to join the committee of their choice. It’s a great way to support the Fellowship and use your special talents. You can also make new friends in the process! The committees include: 1. Building and Grounds
- This committee ensures that our responsibilities related to the
building and grounds are carried out. It will work with the Social Action committee to achieve green sanctuary status if we purchase our
own building. The Building and Grounds Committee is concerned with the
care, aesthetics and maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the
Fellowship. They also are involved with issues of accessibility for
inclusion of people with disabilities and assuring the ongoing physical
condition of the space to enhance the welcoming and spiritual
atmosphere. 2. Finance and Stewardship
- This committee prepares the budget and also proposes and oversees
stewardship strategies to ensure sufficient revenue to finance the
budget. The Finance and Stewardship Committee ensures that the
fellowship is financially sustainable. 3. Membership and Community Outreach
- The Membership and Community Outreach Committee promotes JUUF’s
viability by attracting people who are committed to the Unitarian
Universalist principles, welcomes and orients visitors, and develops
programs that sustain the spiritual lives of our members. The
membership and community outreach committee is composed of a main
membership committee and the Social Functions, Cares and Concerns,
Communication, and Technology subcommittees. 4. Religious Education for children, youth, and adults - This committee plans and administers all aspects of religious education for the church year. It is responsible for nurturing the spiritual growth of children, youth, and adults within the fellowship community and beyond. This year, in addition to the children’s religious education committee, there will be two independent task forces investigating religious education programs for youth and adults and providing recommendations for the development of youth and adult religious education programs. 5. Services - This committee plans services for the year and provides the leadership for lay lead services. |
