Religious Exploration

JUUth Group

Hey, everybody! I‟m Honesty, one of the members of the JUUth Group. We are the revised R.E.(Religious Education) group for all people 13-20. We talk about religion (although we don‟t push our beliefs on anyone,) we help the JUUF community and the community at large, but most of all we enjoy spending time with each other. We just wanted to tell you about a couple things that are coming up. First of all, we‟ll be meeting after service on Oct. 9th and 23rd. On Oct 16th, after the service, we are hosting a Soup-er Sunday, where we will make and bring various kinds of soups. We‟ll make sure to have some soup be gluten-free, vegetarian, etc. This is a fundraiser for JUUth.

Tah tah for now,

The JUUth group

Children's RE

"The great end in religious instruction is not to stamp our minds upon the young, but to stir up their own."
- Rev William Ellery Channing

Religious Exploration classes for children ages 2-12 are held from about 10:15-11:00 Sunday mornings at the Temple Sukkat Shalom, corner of Cordova St. & Foster Ave., across the Douglas Bridge from downtown Juneau beginning September 19th. Children are welcome to begin the worship service with their parents and are sung out to their classrooms at about 10:15.

On Intergenerational Sundays, children remain in the sanctuary with their parents for the service. Services on these days are more interactive and family-friendly.

On Social Action Forum Sundays, parents can drop their children off at RE classrooms before the start of service.

RE Assistants: We are looking for helpers with RE.

Adult RE

Rob received word from several people that they'd be interested in exploring the "Faith Like a River: Themes from Unitarian Universalist History" curriculum as a field test for the UUA. However, most of these folks will be gone through much of the fall, so we'll wait until January to begin this group.
